The flag of Mexico consists of three vertical stripes: green, white and red. In the center is an image of an eagle sitting on a prickly pear and devouring a rattlesnake, which symbolizes Tenochtitlán, the former capital of the Aztecs. The proportion of the flag is 4:7. The last variant of the flag was adopted on September 16, 1968.
